My 1st Birthday Party!!!

Mommy and Daddy planned a great party! It was circus themed, filled with cheese popcorn, caramel popcorn, candy apples, cotton candy, rainbow cupcakes, hot dogs, hamburgers, chips, chili beans....basically lots of junk food. Auntie Norma and Nina Elda got me a balloon artist and he was AMAZING. You should see all the balloons he was able to make. Nina Elda was our face painter and she painted really cool designs. We asked people to dress up in clown attire and people really got in to the spirit. Even though Uncle Donnie couldn't come to the party, he dyed his hair and shaved it to look like Bozo the clown. He sent me a picture so I can could see his costume. Mommy, Daddy, Nina Elda, Auntie Norma, and Grandma Lu decorated the party with LOTS of balloons. It put a smile on my face when I woke up to see all the balloons in my house. I got so many presents too! It was an exciting day for me and I'm so blessed to have such wonderful family and friends. I can't wait to have another year go by, so I can have another birthday party.

My 1st Halloween!

I had a very festive Halloween weekend. I started off on Friday wearing my Halloween attire - black pants and a spooky ghost shirt. On Saturday morning Mommy and Daddy took me to a pumpkin patch that had rides and a petting zoo. It was a lot of fun to pet all the animals, but very stinky because it rained in the morning. In the afternoon I helped my cousin Charley celebrate his 3rd birthday. Mommy dressed me in my pumpkin outfit with my bat shirt. In the evening we went to watch the World Series at my Uncle Gary's house. It was a long day!!! On Halloween Sunday, Mommy, Daddy, Grandma Lu, Nina Elda, and Auntie Norma went to another pumpkin patch. We went on a train ride and went into a haunted house. Don't worry, I wasn't scared at all. I got to wear my costume, which gave me a lot of attention. In the evening, I helped Mommy give out candy to all the trick or treaters. It was a lot of fun and I got so excited every time the door bell rang. I wasn't afraid of the trick or treaters, not even the scarey ones. I can't wait until I'm able to go trick or treating, although it's fun staying and handing out candy. It was a fun filled and memorable Halloween weekend!!!

New Milestones - 10 Months to 11 Months

One more month and it will be my birthday. I'm so excited to be 1 year old, but Mommy is so sad. She says that I am growing too quickly and time is speeding by. So much has happened this month and I've added a few things to my list of 'firsts'. The most exciting thing is that I can walk. I'm not an expert yet and it is sometimes easier to crawl, but I can do it. I also got sick for the first time ever. I had a high fever, a sore throat, and a runny nose. It was not fun...for anyone. However, I survived and got better after 2 weeks. Mommy, Daddy, and Yolanda took good care of me.

I am so active now; I love playing with my toys, I like getting pushed on my car, and I love to play peek-a-boo. However my favorite thing to do right now is walk around my house and my backyard. I'm trying many new foods that Mommy makes me. Oh boy, this month was so exciting that I'm looking forward to next month.

I can walk!!!

I've been walking with the assistance of Mommy, Daddy, and Yolanda for the last month, but today I decided it was time to do it on my own. Mommy and Daddy were very proud of me. I'm still very rusty and sometimes I think it's quicker to crawl than to walk, but I'm getting better every day. I just need to maintain my confidence and go!

Don't worry Daddy, I can do it all by myself.

Look I can even watch TV and walk.

New Milestones - 9 Months to 10 Months

I am 10 months old now. Mommy is very sad that I am growing up so quickly. She says I'm not going to be a baby anymore. I tell her that I'll always be her little baby. This month I had two big milestones.

For one, I now eat food and mommy makes me fresh, yummy fruits and veggies. I eat broccoli, potatoes, sweet potatoes, carrots, pears, peaches, watermelon, and cantaloupe. I do not like bananas, apples, and avocados. I've got a sweet tooth just like my daddy and mommy, so I prefer the fruit over the veggies. I also eat oatmeal, gerber graduates puffs in sweet potato, banana, and apple cinnamon flavor, and gerber graduates peach yogurt snacks. Mommy has also let me sneak in a bite of her cookie and blueberry muffin. They were yummy. I'm also really like drinking water out of glass, although I sometimes spill all over myself.

The other milestone is that I am picking myself up and walking everywhere - with assistance of course. I love walking!!! Yolanda helps me walk all over my house. If no one is there to help me, I use the walls, the couch, chairs, the table, Mommy's legs - basically anything I can get my hands on - to help me walk. One day soon, I'll get the courage to let go and walk on my own.

I can also turn on/off my music toy that is attached to my crib. Mommy doesn't think it is so funny that I turn in on in the middle of the night, when I should be sleeping. In fact, Mommy doesn't like that I wake up every few hours in the middle of the night. When is she going to learn that I just want her to see my smiling face? I'm having fun each day as I grow and continue to learn new things and have new experiences!!!!

Surf's Up

Daddy is very anxious to take me surfing. Although the weather has been nice, the water has been freezing cold. Even with my new wetsuit, I would freeze out there. So, Mommy and Daddy decided to test out my new wetsuit at home. However, it was a lot harder to get on then we thought. "Don't worry Daddy, I'll be able to surf with you soon enough!"

Mommy tried everything to get the wetsuit on...

Ahhh, it finally was on...

New Milestones - 8 Months to 9 Months

Probably the most exciting thing that I accomplished this month was crawling. Now that I can crawl, I am enjoying my new found freedom. After my 1st week of mastering crawling, I decided that I was going to conquer the stairs next. I really want to walk now too, so I use everything I can to pick myself up.

Mommy went back to work on August 9th. I miss her during the day, but I am having fun with Yolanda. She takes good care of me while Mommy and Daddy are at work. She takes me for walks, we play together with my toys, she feeds me, and she sees that I am well rested with my naps. Even though I like Yolanda, I am very happy when Mommy and Daddy come home from work.

This month was another fun one, filled with adventure. I can't wait to see what next month has in store.
